The Footman James Classic Vehicle Restoration Show returns to the Royal Bath & West Showground this November for another instalment of celebrating all things classic and all things restoration. Whatever your budget may be or however far you are to completing your project, you will be able to find everything you need at the event.
Inside the large halls of the Showground, there will be an array of traders for visitors to browse – you may even find that elusive spare part you need! On top of this, it’s a perfect opportunity to acquire tips and advice from those that know everything to do with restoration.
It’s well-known that clubs play a big part in the Classic Vehicle Restoration Show. Often clubs make their own stands, really highlighting the personality of the club and demonstrates that their skills far extend their knowledge of the classic cars bought with them!
Several clubs have attended the event since its inception – so make sure that you stay to view the coveted awards ceremony on Sunday at 4pm, where the top three clubs will be awarded a cash prize.
The Classic Vehicle Restoration Show will see Charterhouse Auctioneers and Valuers move into the Exmoor Hall. You will be able to browse the available lots on Saturday for free, but if a vehicle catches your eye and you want to bid on it, you’ll need to buy a catalogue on Sunday from the Charterhouse staff. The catalogue itself allows entry for 2 adults and costs £10 – the auction begins at 12 noon on Sunday, so make sure you don’t miss out!
The first lot for 2019 has been announced as two MGBs! They are a pair of tax exempt classic sports cars that date back 1971 and 1973 respectively but need a full restoration.
The Classic Car Park at the Footman James Classic Vehicle Restoration Show is one of the final opportunities of the year to get your classic out and about in public, before winter. One of the main highlights of the event, the Classic Car Park is filled with rows and rows of classic vehicles and is also filled with not only enthusiasts browsing, but journalists and photographers sifting through the line-up.
For just £5 drivers can get a ticket enter the Classic Car Park, which can be purchased on the day. Passengers are required to pay £11 on the day or £9 if their ticket is bought in advance. Those that do park up in the area are automatically entered a competition to win a rosette and an award for their pride and joy!
It’s promised that the Kit Car Hall will be bigger and better than ever at this year’s event and will encompass both traders and clubs from across the UK. If you are interested in creating your own kit car, it’s the perfect place to go – there will be a range of kits and accessories on sale to get you started, or simply browse across traders’ stalls for ideas of what you could achieve.
The clubs attending this year include the Westfield Sports Car Club, Speedsters & Spyders, GTM Owners Club, DNA Owners Club and Kitnet UK – so there will be a number of informed clubs on hand to guide you through what you need to do to complete your build, or get it started!
