Electrifying tour for Chrome Collective at Lunaz

Lunaz Design opened its doors in November to members of the Chrome Collective, as they took private clients of Footman James on a tour of the company’s state-of-the-art facility.

The Silverstone-based company walked Chrome Collective members through the process of upcycling and remastering some of the world’s most iconic classic cars, welcomed by some key members of the Lunaz team – Aiden McCafferty (Head of Client & Marketing Communications), Jo Slater (Head of Design), and Patrick Fairfield (Head of Commercial).

Chrome Collective members were given a taste of what each Lunaz customer is guided through; a complete re-engineering of their prized vehicle. The firm has restored and electrified models such as the Aston Martin DB6, Jaguar XK120, original Range Rover, and Rolls Royce Phantom in the past.

Vehicles go through a ground-up re-engineering programme, as Lunaz strips everything back and inspects the chassis, powertrain, and suspension – taking scans for 3D CAD models – inside and out.

Customers are then able to work with the design department to pick unique paint schemes, upholstery in the material of their choice, and even the opportunity to change details and panels such as the wood veneer, including adding modern technology and systems.

Here, Chrome Collective members were shown the process by two designers - Hayley Hunter and Alice Percy-Raine - along with Jo Slater, talking guests through the design process of our vehicles

An electric powertrain of Lunaz’s own design is then put into the restored vehicle, to “further the legacies of the most celebrated cars in the world”, as Lunaz founder & CEO David Lorenz says. Motor power and battery capacity depend on customer requirements and what can be fitted in to the vehicle.

On the workshop floor Chrome Collective visitors were shown and talk through the process of restoring the cars by Dan Warren, Head of Restoration. He explained that everything other than vehicle blasting is done on site, including trim, paint, restoration, engineering, design, and polishing.

Footman James Private Clients automatically become members of our Chrome Collective club which provides them with access to exclusive complimentary experiences just like the visit to Lunaz Design.
