Royal Automobile Club Opens Nominations for Historic Awards 2020

Proceedings for this years Royal Automobile Club Historic Awards are underway, with nominations now officially open. The annual event aims to celebrate achievement and excellence in the British historic motoring and motorsport world.

Last year Footman James were pleased to sponsor the awards, crowning the Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court Palace as worthy winners of the Motoring Spectacle award.

This year there’s a wide range of categories for the awards, which the Royal Automobile Club hopes will reflect the diversity of the historic motoring and motorsport scene. These categories include:

  • Collection
  • Competitive Event
  • Motoring Spectacle
  • Outstanding Journalism
  • Personality
  • Race Series
  • Restoration
  • Young Achiever

The Young Achiever category is brand new for 2020, aimed at rising stars aged between 18 and 30 who are building their future in the industry and making a vital contribution.

In addition to the above categories, the Club will also present the Royal Automobile Club Lifetime Achievement Award. This award celebrates a single individual who has made a truly outstanding contribution to British motoring and/or motorsport heritage over many decades.

Ben Cussons, Chairman of the Royal Automobile Club released an official statement:

“The inaugural Awards in 2019 were a resounding success, with high calibre nominations received from around the UK resulting in a wonderful collection of worthy winners. It’s now time to crank up 2020 and encourage nominations from those organisations and individuals who have been remarkably creative in these extraordinary times with some pioneering examples of keeping the wheels turning. The awards will be presented on 26 November, at either a live event or an online one, and we very much look forward to rewarding and celebrating exceptional achievements.”

Nominations will be open until October 1st, with winners to be announced on November 26th. All categories will be subjected to a robust judging process, assessed by their own independent, specialist judging panel. Candidates will be able to nominate themselves or they can be nominated by a third party. All nominations can be made online via: www.royalautomobileclubhistoricawards.co.uk.
